The management of Agus 6/7 Hydroelectric Plant conducted a seminar on Emergency Preparedness for the Iligan City Girl Scout Council during the Ruby Jubilee 16th Junior and Senior Council on October 24 at the Sgt. Miguel Canoy Memorial School, Buru-un, Iligan City.
Attended by hundreds of elementary students in Iligan City, the seminar covered the following topics: Basic Fire Safety, RA 9514 otherwise known as “Fire Code of the Philippines,” Fire Safety Techniques and Procedures, Fire Prevention, Proper Handling, operation and maintenance of Fire Extinguishers, Earthquake Drill and Orientation for Public and Private Schools, Earthquake Secondary Hazards: TSUNAMI and Conceptual Overview of Disaster Management.
The most enjoyed activity was the firefighting activity where the students did water bucket relay and used fire extinguishers. After the seminar, some students were asked on the things they learned to make sure they remembered the important things to do in times of emergency.
