An Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign in Barangay San Antonio, Kalayaan, Laguna was conducted by the NPC-Caliraya Watershed Area Team (CLWAT) on September 18, 2024.

The IEC Campaign focused on presentations about the Caliraya Lumot Watershed Reservation (CLWFR). Mr. MM P. Fajardo, Forest Guard, provided the information on CLWFRโ€™s importance, legal mandates, threats, and prohibited acts. They also presented the proposed Plan 13 Rehabilitation Project, where the location, total area, results of the drone validation over the area, and species to be planted were discussed in full detail.

An open forum followed, providing an opportunity for the participants and CLWAT members to address the queries, comments, and suggestions raised by the community. This allowed a clearer understanding of the communityโ€™s concerns, providing valuable insights for the improvement of the ongoing efforts.

The program concluded with a closing remarks from Kagawad Isidro Agana and Kagawad Kayson Blanco of Barangay San Santonio, where they expressed their full  support of NPCโ€™s programs and projects.

NPC-CLWFR is one of the 11 watershed reservations under NPCโ€™s stewardship and protection. The 11,028 hectare reservation supports the power generation of the Kalayaan, Botocan, and Caliraya hydroelectric power plants.
