BBWAT has initiated the Adopt-a-Forest program to encourage the stakeholders, CSOs and the community to partake in the protection and conservation of the Buhi-Barit Watershed Reservation. One of the partner organizations is the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) - Bicol Chapter.
The PCP - Bicol Chapter, thru its President Renee Myla A. Balang, MD., FPCP, has partnered with BBWAT last CY 2017 to uphold their organization's endeavor of climate change mitigation. As stipulated in the MOP (Memorandum of Partnership), the PCP regularly monitors the status of their adopted area and conducts replanting to replace the mortality.
Further, the activity was conducted in line with the 2nd PCP Day of Rising Nationwide GREEN Event. Coincidentally, November is Climate Changel Environmental Awareness Month.
Prior the tree planting, short messages were given by PCP representative Arbel Perete, MD and BBWAT Forest Guard Eleno N. Lavadia III. After the activity, PCP and BBWAT held a meeting to discuss plans in extending the MOP and the PCP's intention of adopting an additional area.
