NPC?S PCWAT Distributes Tree Seedlings to Various People?s Organization
To encourage them to plant and grow trees and vegetables as an alternative livelihood, PCWAT distributed seedlings to its Bantay Watershed Protection Council and People?s Organizations such as the Tapil Bunga Farmer?s Association Inc., Calaocan Burgos Upland Farmers Association Inc., Salvacion Agri-Planters Association and Salazar Farmer?s Association on July 3, 2017.
The beneficiaries chose among a variety of seedlings like calamansi, rambutan, coconut and assorted vegetable seeds.
The said activity is part of PCWAT?s livelihood program that aims to encourage people to engage in other means of living rather than doing activities that can harm the forest. The project was implemented in collaboration with Central Luzon State University Extension Office.
NPC is one of the government institutions that manage the Pantabangan-Carangalan Watershed Forest Reserve, located in the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Aurora and Nueva Vizcaya. Other government bodies that also take good care of the watershed are the DENR, NIA, and MWSS.
