As part of the formulation of the Watershed Management Department’s Master Plan for its 11 watersheds, the NPC Watershed Management Department has conducted a participatory Vulnerability and Risk Assessment workshop for its stakeholders on August 24, 2017.

The participants were from National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, Angat Hydropower Corporation, Manila Water, DENR- PENRO Bulacan, CENRO Tabang, CENRO Baliwag, BFAR, LGU’s of Norzagaray and Doña Remedios Trinidad Bulacan (Municipal Agricultural Office, Municipal Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council & Municipal Planning and Development), Farmer’s Association, barangay captains and representatives from Brgy. San Lorenzo Norz., Brgy. Camachin & Camachile of DRT Bulacan, and the Indigenous People Organization- KAtutubong DUmagat sa Sierra MAdre (KADUSMA).

The workshop, which is the second stakeholders’ consultation workshop, covered topics such as stakeholders’ alliances and conflicts, the climate impacts and risks of events and risk analysis through event consequences.

The WMD Master Plan aims to identify the affected resources and the magnitude and frequency of climate-induced phenomenon like typhoons, El Niῆo, La Nina, etc. With the Master Plan, NPC can make necessary preparations and impact-mitigation efforts for the watersheds it manages and the indigenous peoples that reside in them.
