NPC spearheads Environment Month celebration in Camarines Sur

About 400 volunteers from various local institutions and government agencies came together for the tree-planting activity held in Buhi, Camarines Sur on June 25, 2018 to celebrate the Environment Month.

NPC, which manages the 18,380-hectare Buhi-Barit watershed area in the provinces of Albay and Camarines Sur, organized the tree-planting event held in Sitio Lologon, Barangay Monte Calvario in Buhi with the theme, ‘Go wild for life, combat biodiversity loss.’

The volunteers were able to plant around 2,000 seedlings of Santol, Mahogany, Kalantas and Narra. Aside from providing the seedlings, NPC will also handle the regular maintenance and monitoring of the planted seedlings to ensure their survival.

Buhi Municipal Mayor Margarit M. Aguinillo also joined the tree planting and encouraged the participants to continue caring for the environment.

NPC’s Buhi-Barit Watershed Area Team (BBWAT) organizes the annual event together with its stakeholders with the aim of promoting environment protection and rehabilitation. The activity is also aligned with the National Greening Program of the DENR.
