Maria Catherine C. Majomot
Visayas Operations Department – Bohol

Any NPC employee who’s been to the beautiful island province of Bohol has probably met her. The bubbly, blonde, and bibo lady, Ms. Cathy Majomot. Did you know that she’s more than just your Bohol travel guide?

With the hope that NPC can give her and her family a brighter future, Ms. Cathy tried applying for a job at the corporation in 1996. Given her knowledge and experience in computer science and perhaps her natural ability to be friends with anyone, she was blessed and ‘got in.’

After the privatization of the Bohol Diesel Power Plant in 2008, her being blessed strike again as she was given the chance to work again with NPC through the Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG).

Twenty-two years later, she remains to be a significant feather in NPC’s Bohol Mini Grid Office’s cap. Albeit her title, her job is not limited to data encoding but also performs administrative roles such as preparation of budget, purchase requisition, and ISO documents. She likewise performs other tasks as needed from time to time, since apart from the engineers, she’s the only woman in Bohol Office.

Asked on extraordinary things that NPC did to her, she chuckles, “nakasakay ako ng eroplano ng libre!” Kidding aside, she said she’s always grateful for being treated as friend and even family in NPC. “Makakasama ko ang mga managers, VP sa budget hearings, kahit ako ay [rank and file lang] I feel that I belong,” she said.

Her advice to new generation of employees? Sipag at tiyaga! “Do your job not only for our boss but for our unseen boss, si God. Work hard, with Him, our labor is not in vain.”
