NPC backs energy source in Basilan with new 5MW gensets


The National Power Corporation (NPC) early this month inaugurates new 5 MW generating sets of its Basilan Diesel Power Plant in Baselco Compound, Barangay Binuangan, Isabela City.
With the new gensets, the dependable capacity of the power plant was brought to 14.5 MW which suffices i meeting the growing demand for electricity in the province.


The simple inauguration was graced by Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Hataman who expressed her gratitude for the 400 million project. She said that a stable power supply is a significant factor in developing the province’s programs in health, tourism, education, and other major sectors.


Also present in the ceremony were BASELCO General Manager Dusib Durapan, Yahcob H. Darayan - Dept. Manager SPUG-MOD, Acting Division Manager of WMOD-SPUG, Omar Antocan, Conrad Isahac Division Manager for Administration and Finance, Rolando Penaflor (Plant Manager of Basilan DP), Raul Morales (Plant Superintendent of Power Barge 119 Provincial Administrator Manny Muarip, representatives from the NPC - Power Engineering services as the implementer of the projects, and Barangay Chairperson of Binuangan Barangay Hon. Carmen Delos Reyes.


NPC in partnership with the Basilan Electric Cooperative Inc. will continue to work hand in hand in order to provide sustainable electricity in the province, paving the way for economic progress.
