NPC’s Palawan Operations Division installs reclosers for a more reliable power supply
To improve power plant efficiency, the NPC Palawan Operations Division has installed reclosers to select off-grid power facilities in the province.
The team installed reclosers in Biton, Paly, and Casian Diesel Power Plants in Taytay and will soon visit Bancalaan in Balabac and Nangalao in Linapacan to do the same.
Recloser functions like a circuit breaker on household electric lines. It is a high-voltage switch that automatically shuts off power when trouble happens like a short circuit or distribution line fault. This protective equipment can also determine if the trouble has been addressed. Once the trouble is removed, it automatically restores power.
With reclosers installed, the generating units are protected from mechanical stress that may cause breakdown and longer power interruption.
