True to its mandate of bringing electricity in the farthest islands and communities in the country, NPC has recently energized Panlaitan Island in Busuanga, Palawan, granting electricity to its 350 households.

With an initial capacity of 80 kW, NPC’s Panalitan Diesel Power Plant shall supply the island barangay with an 8-hour electricity daily. The facility will be maintained by two local operators who will be reporting daily to the NPC’s SPUG Palawan Operations while the distribution function is turned over to Busuanga Island Electric Cooperative (BISELCO).

Present during the inauguration ceremony were General Manager Ruth Galang Fortes of BISELCO; Marietta Baltazar - Barangay Captain of Panlaitan; Elizabeth Cervantes - Municipal Mayor of Busuanga; Rexie Aborot as representative of PGP; Ria Reyes as representative of the National Electrification Administation (NEA); and the residents of Barangay Panlaitan.

NPC, as mandated by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001, is tasked to provide reliable electricity in off-grid islands and communities in the country.
