The National Power Corporation (NPC) and the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers Inc. (PSME) on March 8, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the rehabilitation of a portion of NPC's watersheds in the country.

NPC President and CEO Fernando Martin Y. Roxas and PSME President, Engr. Jeremy T. Aguinea signed the MOA, sealing the partnership toward greener forests in the country.

The PSME expressed its interest to participate in NPCโ€™s rehabilitation efforts through the establishment of a reforestation project, as part of their GREEN Agenda and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program.

The partnership will commence with Angat Watershed in Bulacan with the restoration of one hectare of open and degraded upland area. Likewise, the MOA covers the groupโ€™s pledge to undertake the maintenance and protection of the area for over three years, from 2024-2026.

NPCโ€™s Watershed Management Department will identify and designate the one-hectare area, as well as provide technical help with nursery operations, plantation planting, management, and protection.

The Angat Watershed is among the 11 watershed reservations under NPCโ€™s stewardship and conservation efforts. It is in the southernmost portion of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, primarily in the municipalities of the province of Bulacan.
