Napocor launches completed projects in Masbate

State-owned National Power Corporation (Napocor) today launches its completed projects in the province of Masbate, securing a more reliable and stable power for the province.

“On top of the recently rehabilitated and energized 46.59 kilometer Mobo – Aroroy 69 kV transmission line, Napocor has also completed the 76 kilometer 69 kV transmission line connecting Mobo down south to the municipality of Cataingan and the commissioning of 4 units of 600kW generating sets for Ticao Island,” Napocor President and CEO Pio J. Benavidez said.

The Mobo – Cataingan transmission line which completes the Masbate backbone transmission will improve power dispatch and enhance power stability and reliability.

Napocor said that it will likewise contribute to the reduction of systems loss which mean more power is available for customers. This also equates to more savings for the Masbate Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MASELCO).

Moreover, Napocor installed brand new generating sets in its Ticao Diesel Power Plant to support 24/7 operations and address the growing demand in Ticao Island.

With the additional four (4) units of 600 kW gensets, Napocor’s dependable capacity in the island now reaches 2.550 MW which is more than sufficient in meeting the island’s peak demand of 2.168 MW.

Napocor services 13,000 households in the said island of four municipalities – Batuan, Monreal, San Fernando and San Jacinto.

Ticao Island is one of the growing tourist destinations in the country. It offers unique destinations such as the Halea Nature Park which has small, serene beach coves; rocky island and white coral sand of Borobangcaso Islet; and the Catandayagan Falls, a stunning seaside waterfall.

Napocor is the national government’s arm for missionary electrification as mandated by the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001. Napocor performs this mandate through its 275 Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) power facilities scattered all over the archipelago. END
