PH hosts the 34th HAPUA Council Meeting in Bohol

The Philippines through the National Power Corporation, National Transmission Corporation (TransCo), Meralco and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has recently hosted the Council Meeting of the Heads of ASEAN Power Utilities/Authorities (HAPUA) in Panglao, Bohol on November 25 to 30.

The HAPUA Council and its associated meetings such as the HAPUA Working Committee and Working Groups 1, 3 and 4 met to discuss important projects that aim to strengthen regional energy security and heighten collaboration among member states.

At the end of the meeting, the Council vowed its commitment to complete the feasibility study for ASEAN Multilateral Power Trade; contribute to the achievement of ASEAN’s renewable energy target of 23% by 2025; and continue to enhance the competency of member states on the production, delivery and consumption of electricity through collaborative trainings.

The Council likewise resolve to address the challenges to the utility industry in the convergence of power and telecommunications through embarking on technical, commercial and safety studies on the use of existing fiber optics in the power systems for telecommunications.
