NPC grants round the clock power to four islands during ECQ

NPC has recently extended the service hours of four power plants into 24/7 operations amidst the implemented enhanced community quarantine in Luzon. These Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) power plants include Jomalig in Quezon (April 22), Linapacan Island and Cagayancillo in Palawan (May 1 and 18, respectively) and Calayan Island in Cagayan (May 18). The extending of service hours benefited more than 3,000 households.

Also on June 13, Palumbanes, a small island off the northern coast of Caramoran, Catanduanes, received 24/7 power.

NPC expects that with round the clock power, island residents specially fishermen and farmers can maximize electricity to their advantage.

As the missionary electrification arm of the national government, NPC is mandated to reach and energize the farthest islands and communities in the country. Currently, NPC operates 277 SPUG plants in 183 municipalities across 35 provinces.
