NPC welcomes Senator Pimentel to the BNPP, gives background and facts on the facility
NPC President and CEO Pio J. Benavidez on Monday led the team who welcomed Senate President Aquilino ‘Koko’ Pimentel III to the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant for a briefing and plant visit.
In his briefing for the Senator and his party, Atty. Manuel Luis B. Plofino of the NPC-Resource Management Service discussed the mothballed facility’s basic information, geological site concerns, comparison of nuclear energy to major power sources and the timeline of the development of nuclear power in the Philippines. Senator Koko then toured the BNPP with DOE Usec. Donato Marcos, Atty. Plofino and BNPP’s resident technical guides Joe Manalo, Cora Baluyot, Rey Punzalan and Willy Torres.
