NPC holds tree planting, welcomes grad students of CBSUA in Buhi-Barit Watershed

NPC – Buhi Barit Watershed Area Team has recently arranged an eco-tour for the Graduate students of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) – Sipocot in the watershed reservation in Buhi, Camarines Sur.

The activity is part of the students’ field study on Environmental Resource Valuation. The students who are taking up master’s in science – Resource Management and master’s in science in Agricultural Education have also spared time to plant trees as their contribution to climate change mitigation. 100 seedlings of kalumpit (Terminalia microcarpa) and tugawe (pometia pinnata) were planted along the perimeter of Lakelet Manapao of the watershed.

The eco-tour included a discussion on the field study by campus research director, Ms. Lourdes L. Nieva, Ph D. who likewise extended her gratitude to BBWAT for the tour.

Buhi-Barit is under NPC’s stewardship along with 10 other watersheds in the country that aids power generation.
