NPC celebrates Environment month with tree planting in various watershed

In celebration of the environment month, NPC conducted tree planting activities in various locations through its watershed area teams.

The Buhi-Barit Watershed area team tapped at least 400 participants from different government and private agencies to plant seedlings of Molave, Lamio, Lauan, Dao, Narra and Guyabano in Sitio Binusbusan, Sta. Justina in Buhi, Camarines Sur. The team was able to plant 1,300 seedlings.

In Pantabangan-Carranglan Watershed, the area team participated in the tree planting activity hosted by the Municipality of Carranglan in Mt. 387, Puncan, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija. Joint activities such as this strengthen NPC’s relationship with local stakeholders.

On Arbor Day last June 25, the Makiling-Banahaw Watershed Area Team likewise conducted a tree planting activity in Mt. Malaraya in San Celestino, Lipa City.

June is declared as the Philippine Environment Month by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 237 signed in 1998 by then President Corazon Aquino.

Part of NPC’s mandate is to perform watershed management to 11 reservations in the country that supports power generation.
