San Roque dam elevation still above the normal high water level, spilling operations continue - Napocor

The National Power Corporation (Napocor) on Wednesday continues the water spilling operations at San Roque dam in Pangasinan with water outflow of 785 cubic meters per second (cms) to further bring the water level into its normal high-water level of 280 meters above sea level (masl).

“Current level of dam as of 10am today is 285.61 masl and we are closely monitoring the inflow and outflow of water in the dam with the San Roque Power Corporation. We also maintain coordination with the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for timely advisories for the community,” said Engr. Conrado Sison, head of Napocor’s Dams Management Department.

Napocor said that there had been significant decrease in water elevation from 287.18 masl yesterday to today’s elevation, due to decreased inflow of water from 1342 cms to 890 cms. Thus gate openings were also reduced from 6.5 meters (five gates) to 4.5 meters (three gates).

Although there is an improving weather condition in the area, the dam elevation is still high which calls for continuous water discharge from its spillway.

Municipalities along the dam/flood warning zones include San Manuel, San Nicolas, Tayug, Sta. Maria, Villasis, Asingan, Rosales, Alcala, Bayambang and Bautista.

Napocor is likewise closely monitoring the reservoir and the amount of rainfall over Angat watershed in Bulacan.  Angat Dam, which has a normal high-water elevation of 212 masl, has a current level of 205.88 masl. END
