NPC manages twelve dams all over the country and conducts semi-annual inspection to the five major dams in Luzon and 7 dams in Mindanao to ensure their integrity and the safety of the people that live downstream of the dams. It also practices efficient reservoir management with partner agencies to help conserve water while optimizing water utilization. NPC conducts Information and Education Campaigns to educate the public on the operations and importance of dams.

The National Power Corporation (NPC) remains a government-owned and -controlled corporation mandated to perform missionary electrification or powering the farthest islands in the archipelago thru its Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG); watershed and dams management in support of power generation; and operations and maintenance of the Agus and Pulangi Hydropower Complexes in Mindanao. It is an attached agency of the Department of Energy (DOE).
