NPC’s Caliraya Lumot Watershed Area Team (CLWAT) continues to empower the youth with information on watershed conservation and preservation having conducted another participative lecture at Sitio Magalolon Elementary School in Kalayaan, Laguna.
The session imparted Caliraya and Lumot lakes, the role and significance of watersheds and the challenges they face, prohibited activities in the vicinity, and strategies that NPC implements toward its conservation. Students from different grade levels actively engaged in the discussions and learned of the importance of the watershed and its impact on their everyday lives.
Through this initiative, NPC-CLWAT hopes to instill a sense of responsibility among students toward caring for these invaluable resources.
Caliraya Lumot Watershed is one of the 11 watershed reservations under NPC’s management. The 11,028-hectare reservation supports the power generation of the Kalayaan, Botocan and Caliraya hydroelectric power plants.
