QUEZON CITY - The Department of Energy (DOE), through its Energy Utilization Management Bureau, on Wednesday (20 April 2022) visited the National Power Corporation (NPC)-Head Office to assess

its energy efficiency and conservation best practices.

The NPC-Head Office is one of the awardees of the Energy Efficiency Excellence Awards for 2021.

As a result of its compliance with the Inter-Agency Energy Efficiency and Conservation Committee Resolution No. 01 s. 2020, the NPC highlighted their 10% savings in electricity and fuel consumption.

Accepting the award for NPC is its Vice President for Administration and Finance, Mr. Alex P. Japon.

“The Energy family is committed to complying with the rules and regulations set forth by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Act. I congratulate the NPC – Head Office for its EEC excellence,” Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said.

Among the EEC measures of the NPC – Head Office include turning-off lights from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM, to set the temperature of their air-conditioning units to 24 °C.
Further, the NPC – Head Office also ensures that all employees participate by posting EEC signages and reminders.

“These small collaborative efforts made by our different sectors will make the EEC Act’s roadmap achievable. We can ensure that we are one step closer towards attaining our goal of energy security and independence,” Energy Secretary Cusi concluded.
