NPCโ€™s Watershed Management Department (NPC-WMD) on February 8 met with various stakeholders in Bokod in Benguet to review and fortify into a document the previous discussions on the strategies for preventing forest fires, and forest fire suppression protocols, among others.

WMD Manager Mr. Emmanuel Umali presided over the meeting which was attended by representatives from Bokod Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO), Bokod Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO), OIC-Fire Marshall of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bokod, Philippine National Police (PNP) Bokod and some barangay officials and staff.

NPC is expecting that with the established protocol to prevent forest fires and fire management, there will be lesser incidents of fires in the Upper Agno River Watershed Area.

Upper Agno River Watershed is one of the 11 watershed reservations managed by NPC. It is a 123,000-hectare reservation that serves as the catchment area that feeds the Ambuklao and Binga dams, two of the country's oldest hydroelectric plants.
