NPC PCEO turns over 2MWp grid-tied solar farms to South Cotabato II and Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperatives

GENSAN CITY - National Power Corporation President and CEO Fernando Martin Roxas on Thursday morning turns over the European Union-funded renewable energy projects to two (2) of the four (4) electric cooperative (EC) beneficiaries of the 1MWp grid-tied solar farms (each).

In his brief message, President Nani Roxas gave credit for the success of the projects to the people who worked hard for its completion despite the pandemic - teams from NPC that implemented the project, National Electrification Administration, Department of Energy, World Bank and the ECs. He likewise expressed gratitude to the EU, represented by Ambassador Luc Veron, for the PHP 3.8 billion grant to the Philippines that funded the rural network solar project, among others.

"The current trends show us what we need to do - invest in more renewable technologies to create clean and sustainable energy sources. Today, the coops showed us how we can do it," President Nani said.

The NPC Chief also expressed hope that the energy agencies and developing partners can meet again in Mindanao for the energization of the last mile of households left.

Joining President Nani in the launching of the solar farms are Ambassador Luc Veron, World Bank Country Coordinator Ndiame Diop, Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Maria Belen Acosta, DOE Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella, World Bank Senior Energy Specialist Feng Liu and NEA Deputy Administrator Ernesto Silvano Jr.

Meanwhile, the two other grid tied solar farms in Samar is set to be switched on by end of September.
